When you hear the name of Horace Andy, born in 1951 as Horace Hinds, you will probably think about two things: "Skylarking" und Massive Attack. The former was Andy's biggest Hit by far, which has been covered and sampled numerous times since then by diverse producers of all kind. Concerning Massive Attack, you can almost call him a member of them. He was already present on their first album "Blue Lines" in 1990, where he sang the vocals on the Hit "One Love". Since then he was present on each album released by the British band, mostly as vocalist, but also produced some remixes of his own old Hits. During his long career he had stage- or studio-presence with almost every popular name in the music-business, e.g. Coxson Dodd, Bunny Lee, Gussie Clarke, King Tubby, John Holt, Bim Sherman, Steely & Clevie, Dennis Brown, Jah Shaka and many others.
The most remarkable characteristic of Horace Andy is his voice, which is definitely one of the most popular one's in the Reggae-Scene. He already proved that at the beginning of his career, which you can hear on this relaxed successor to his debut-album 'Skylarking'. He was backed by excellent musicians: Augustus Pablo with his Melodica, Leroy Sibbles from the Heptones on the Bass, Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace on the Drums, and Andy Bashford on the Lead-Guitar. Prince Jammy produced the appropriate Dub-Versions, which have recently been re-released on "Blood & Fire" as the "In The Light/In he Light Dub" album. This is absolutely one of the All-Time-Reggae-Classics, no need to say much about it. If you don't own it yet, go and buy it!
